Effective date: July 18, 2026
HopQuiz is designed to be private by default. This policy explains what data exists, where it lives, and the limited ways third parties may be involved.
Used as a guest, your decks, cards, study history, tasks, notes, images, display name, and settings are stored only in your browser’s storage on your own device. None of that content is transmitted, collected, or stored on any server, and we cannot see it.
If you choose to sign in with Google, we store the minimum needed to run your account and sync: your Google name, email address, and account identifier; your study content (decks, cards, history, tasks, notes, and images) so it can follow you across devices; and a session cookie that keeps you signed in. This data is stored with our hosting provider (Cloudflare) and used only to operate the Service — we do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it for anything beyond providing HopQuiz.
Publishing a deck to Explore is optional. When you do, that deck — its name, cards, and any images on those cards — is stored server-side and shown publicly once a moderator approves it, and your display name and email are associated with the listing so we can moderate submissions. Every submission is reviewed before it appears. You can unpublish at any time from the deck editor, which removes the listing.
Publishing a deck to Explore is optional. Once a moderator approves it, the deck’s name, cards, and your Google display name are visible to every visitor. Your email address is stored with the listing and shown only to the moderator reviewing it — never publicly. Making the deck private again (or deleting it) removes the listing, including that stored email, from our servers.
HopQuiz itself sets one cookie: the session cookie created when you sign in, removed when you sign out. Guest mode sets no cookies. Embedded players (YouTube, Spotify), analytics, and any advertising may set their own — see below.
Sign-in uses Google’s OAuth service under Google’s privacy policy. If you paste a YouTube link or connect Spotify, those players load from YouTube/Spotify and are governed by their policies; your Spotify connection token stays in your own browser. Our host (Cloudflare) processes requests to serve the site.
You can export your decks as a file at any time, and permanently erase everything with Settings → Delete all data — as a guest this clears your browser copy, and signed in it also deletes your content from our servers. Clearing your browser’s site data removes the local copy.
We may use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings, or learn more at aboutads.info. Third-party vendors’ use of cookies is governed by their own privacy policies.
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used (pages visited, general region, device type). Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data under Google’s privacy policy; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Your study content (decks, cards, notes) is never sent to analytics. Standard technical logs kept by our hosting provider may also record request information like IP address and browser type.
On your first visit a consent banner lets you accept or reject these analytics and advertising cookies, and we remember your choice. Until you accept, Google’s tag runs in a cookieless mode via Google Consent Mode. You can change your mind any time by clearing this site’s data.
HopQuiz is a general-audience study tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Guest mode collects no personal information at all, and accounts only hold the basic Google profile described above.
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will be noted on this page.
